Are forum upgrade updates no longer available?

AI-generated summary

In a support thread titled ‘Are forum upgrade updates no longer available?’, Aaron_Walsh reports that the ‘Update Discourse’ button is missing from the admin sidebar, despite being logged in as an admin. tobiaseigen suggests checking the URL https://yoursite/admin/update, confirming admin status, and verifying locale settings, referencing a past issue where the button disappeared in some locales. Aaron_Walsh confirms access via URL but still sees no sidebar button. tobiaseigen asks about safe mode and locale settings, while Aaron_Walsh confirms not being in safe mode and plans to update. After updating, Aaron_Walsh reports the button still missing and notes the absence of a logout button, suspecting a plugin or component issue. merefield suggests checking if the Docker Manager plugin is installed — required for the update UI — linking to its GitHub and meta.discourse.org pages. Aaron_Walsh confirms the plugin is installed. tobiaseigen again asks about locale settings, and Jagster shares that even with locale set to fi or English (UK/US), the button appears for them. Finally, Aaron_Walsh reports that a recent update resolved the issue — the ‘Update Discourse’ button is now visible in the sidebar.

Good evening,

Am I missing something here? It doesn’t seem to have an option anymore for updates on the forum to see the latest versions of upgrades, and I’ve looked everywhere.

If you go to https://yoursite/admin/update what do you see?

Are you logged in as admin or mderator? Only admins can update discourse.

There was an issue last summer when the button disappeared in some locales, but that was fixed and I think is unrelated to what you are experiencing.

Hi @tobiaseigen ,

I can access it this way, but I don’t see the update button in the sidebar. I will check if something is missing after an update.

Are you in safe mode ? If so, docker (which provides the update interface) is also disabled.

And just to confirm your problem is not related to last year’s locale issue.. is Default locale set to “English (US)”?

No, it wasn’t in safe mode, but I have tried that too. As you explained, it wouldn’t have worked. I do have some catching up to do on updates, as it’s been like this for a few weeks, so I will update and get back to this topic if it is resolved.

No unsuccessful attempts after an update; I still do not see this.

Are you missing Docker Manager from your plugins? You need this for the update UI to be included.

It’s been some time since I’ve been in the DigitalOcean console! Ha But I do have this plugin installed.

And the default locale? What about the locale in your own user prefs?

Something strange is happening here; I don’t have a logout button, either. I think I may have an issue with a plugin or component.

Because no one tells you what the locale is, I can give you one example.

Default is fi. Mine is same, and I have Update Discourse in the menu. Then I tried change my own to English (UK) and English (US) and I still had that Update Discourse there. I’m on quite fresh version, because I did ./launcher rebuild app on Tuesday.

Seems like an update sometime this week fixed this.
