We have made some improvements since this report, mainly the toolbar action is more context-aware between inline/block and the support to going back and forth between multiple paragraphs and a single code block as well.
I think the remaining “issue” is that if you paste plain text within the composer and there’s no identification that it’s pre-formatted text, we can’t auto-create a code block – for example, copying from my terminal, it’s only adding a plain/text clipboard, and we would need a text/html with a pre element to auto-create a code block currently.
Can you check if things have improved since, please? And let us know if there are anything you still think is not behaving correctly.
