Aurora initiated a discussion regarding the Discourse Events plugin, noting that exporting events to iOS or Google Calendar currently only includes the title and time, omitting critical details like location, descriptions, and links. She requested a feature to automatically include full event details in calendar entries to improve user convenience. nathank supported this by linking to a previous report about the location field not being passed through to .ics exports, emphasizing the importance of these fields. Aurora added that Zoom links are vital for their community and highlighted issues with recurring events, such as attendance statuses persisting after the event and the inability to subscribe to recurring series in iOS/Google Calendar. She also noted confusion with recurring events where clicking a future date in the calendar leads to the wrong month. lindsey responded that the plugin was recently updated to ensure the event description populates in the .ics file, allowing it to save to the calendar application. She provided links to the relevant GitHub pull request and screenshots, inviting further feedback if other issues persist.
we regularly use the Events plugin in our community. When members save an event to their iOS or Google Calendar, only the title and time are currently added β but not the additional event details, such as the location, description, or links.
Question:
Is there any way (or could it be implemented) so that when exporting or saving an event to a calendar, the full event description and details (e.g. location, Zoom link, etc.) are automatically included in the calendar entry?
That would make it much easier for participants to have all relevant information at hand without needing to go back to the forum post.
We recently updated the plugin to ensure that the event description will populate in the .ics file, so it should save to the description in your calendar application.
