A user, putty, reports that icons in their production environment changed overnight, while the staging environment remained unchanged, despite no code updates. The issue appears to be related to a recent update involving Font Awesome 7 (FA7) and the Font Awesome Pro plugin. NateDhaliwal and Moin note the switch to FA7 and a bug in the plugin that affected icon styling. putty confirms they are using the “Classic” style, which should use the original icons. Juan_David_Martínez explains that the default style was changed from regular to solid, and fixing the style setting restored the original icons. However, putty still experiences issues with the navigation bar, which may be related to changes in the CSS, as Moin suggests. putty confirms the CSS issue was the remaining problem.
Did something icon-related update overnight? For some reason, the icons on my production environment changed overnight, but they remain the same on my staging environment. See the category and navigation icons.
All settings should be the same between the two, and I didn’t push an update on either. The new ones are more of an outlined version.
New, that was automatically pushed to my production:
Yes, I think it is related. Previously, the default was regular, but now it is solid. Also, the Fontawesome Pro plugin had a bug that didn’t allow the classic regular style to be selected; it was showing the classic solid style instead. This should be fixed by changing the fa icon style to solid. I am OOO today but let me know if it works for you or you have any questions.
The only loose end, which I assume is related to this, but I’m not sure how/why, is that my nav bar is still wonky:
It’s fine in my staging, where the icons never changed, but they’re misaligned in my production ever since the icon update. I can fix it quickly in CSS, but just a weird PSA.
