iOS 26 bugs still persist on 26.1

I was asked to make a new topic for this because the main announcement wasn’t the right place to discuss it.

The iOS 26 bug where the cursor position goes wrong was improved in 26.1 but not completely fixed. I can still replicate it in many ways, on my own Discourse website and on here.

Here is a video of me on my site:

You can still break it by minimising the post edit screen and then maximising it again.

It also can happen when switching apps and coming back. I switched to the Settings app to get a screenshot of my iOS version for a DM on here and when I came back the cursor was misaligned:

I understand this is an Apple problem but they think it’s all fixed so we need to keep pointing it out and pressuring them to try and fix it some more.

It’s incredibly frustrating that after months of this bug it’s only been half-fixed. With the browser being a monopoly and updates tied to slow OS releases, Safari is feeling like the new IE6

I rather foolishly updated to iOS26 yesterday.

I’m not even 24hrs in to the update and this issue is making Discourse almost impossible to use.

Have you tried correcting a typo in the middle of a post you’re creating @Shauny ? You literally can’t get to the text to edit it

The composer editing bug is largely fixed for me on the latest version of Discourse.

Still other bugs remain, like the one where in a PWA if you switch apps and switch back then you can’t click any buttons on the composer.

Hmm, I’m running latest.

i have the same issue

Is this topic regarding the same issue as: Composer positioning issues in iOS ?

Please take videos or at least screenshots of the state of your screen when you have your bug. Also it’s important you tell me if you repro this 100%, or if you just repro it 5% of the times.

100% of the time.

iOS 26.1 with Safari.
It’s taken me minutes to even be able to paste that link in.

Turns out I can’t even tap and hold in this window to bring up the paste option either.

Will load laptop.

Discourse on ios has been a disaster this quarter.

I’m not sure if this topic needs merging in to this other topic – if it’s the same issue: Composer positioning issues in iOS
