Do you use the same composer mode in both forums? I know the rich-text-editor adds a different line break ( New composer inserts double line breaks when pressing return key ) than the markdown editor.

Hmm… are you using the Markdown or the ~~WYSIWYG~~ rich text editor? IIRC the 1st behaviour is that of the ~~WYSIWYG~~ rich text editor, and the 2nd is the Markdown one.
