I’m getting the subject message when I attempt to log in to https://discourse.ubuntu.com using Firefox on Ubuntu Linux 24.04.4 LTS. This just started happening, it was working a day or two ago. I am able to successfully log onto the site using Google Chrome. I’m opening this topic because the message continues on to say “Please switch to a supported browser to view rich content, log in and reply.”. If I click “switch to supported browser”, it takes me to a page showing “Mozilla Firefox Latest Version 151.” But if I select Help About in Firefox, it reports: Firefox 151.0.2 (64-bit) Mozilla Firefox Snap for Ubuntu canonical-002-1.0 So according to everything I’m seeing, I am using a supported version, and everything should be working.

Welcome to Meta  Are there further details in the browser console? [image] Discourse does not support UXP browsers and it's forks (e.g, Pale Moon) Support If you open the browser developer console, you should see a log of the failed JS/CSS feature-detections.

@guy_rouillier Hi there. Ubuntu Discourse moderator here: we are not aware of any current issues like this. I checked your user profile and everything seems fine. I would, firstly, check the console as @Moin suggested but also try clearing cache and cookies for the site then hard reset with Shift or Ctrl + F5 and then try logging in again. I will keep an eye on this topic and also over at Ubuntu Discourse. If you do manage to log in, please ping me a PM to let me know (@rubi1200) Hopefully this gets resolved soon.

Thank you for the replies. I’ll attempt to cover the questions, starting with the easiest. (1) @Bryanpwo, I mentioned my OS and Firefox versions in my original post. (2) @Moin I cleared the browser console, then started fresh. I see the following message which looks relevant: Uncaught Unsupported browser detected start-discourse-e14b1a44.br.js:4:63 ``https://ubuntucommunity.s3.us-east-2.amazonaws.com/assets/start-discourse-e14b1a44.br.js:4 ``https://ubuntucommunity.s3.us-east-2.amazonaws.com/assets/start-discourse-e14b1a44.br.js:7 (3) I learned some more that may help isolate this issue. If I go to the main Ubuntu discourse site https://discourse.ubuntu.com/, I see the message I mentioned, and all text on the page is grayed out. However, if I go directly to a specific topic like this current one at Unfortunately, your browser is unsupported , I don’t see the message, and all text on the page is displayed normally.

Try connecting to the Ubuntu Discourse site using VPN. Choose another European country. Alternatively, or perhaps in addition to the above you can give this a go: Step 1: Open a terminal and find your connection name with ip link Mine is eno1 Run the following command (note this is a temporary workaround that is lost after rebooting): sudo ip link set dev eno1 mtu 1320 Step 2: Clear cookies and site data in Firefox for Discourse Step 3: Try to connect and log in again

that site password reset is broken so i can’t even test this. i have been trying to reset my password for it for ages with the forgotten password link, and it just loops me through the password change telling me i need my original password, which i obviously forgot, since i clicked that link! (it was in my old company password vault which i don’t have access to now). edit: oh now it lets me login on the site directly even though ubuntuOne says my password wasn’t changed and kept looping me through the process. i don’t get it. maybe just some cacheing issues with identity provider  anyways, i just tested this with latest firefox and ubuntu 24.04 and no issues or errors (other than above, which could have been between my chair and keyboard lol)

@Lilly is your Ubuntu Discourse account okay now as far as you are concerned? Or is there anything else you need help with?

Just out of curiosity, which browser are you using on this site? I am able to use Firefox on any project that uses Discourse for its forum, including my own project.
