Link for old browsers doesn't work on old browsers

Via a community member, this is a bug report for the notice about old browsers.

When viewing our Discourse with an old browser someone gets the message

Your browser will soon be incompatible with this community. To keep participating here, please upgrade your browser or learn more.

The link for viewing more about old browsers is Dropping iOS 15 & other old browsers in July 2025 . The bug is that this link doesn’t work in old browsers, so they’re being directed to a page we know they can’t read.

Hi there, just to be sure, are you referring to the part where the user says:

Unfortunately, your browser is unsupported. Please switch to a supported browser to view rich content, log in and reply.

(and the link from there appears to be to a random Wordpress site with essentially no content

where the browsehappy.com link here is the part which is the ‘random Wordpress site’?

I cannot reproduce that. The link takes me to the topic and I can read it.

What browser are you using?

No - the bug is earlier, where a user on an old browser is directed to a link on meta.discourse.org that doesn’t work on an old browser. The user with an old browser should be directed to a page that has no minimum browser requirements.

If the link for “switch to a supported browser” is helpful or not is a different question and not part of this bug.

That was Kiwi. But it’s the same with Firefox 115.27.0esr

Yeah just confirming what @moin has demonstrated: as with any Discourse topic, the recent browser-support announcement is available to view in any browser. There will be an ‘unsupported browser’ banner at the top, but the content should still be there.

@pnorman if your community member is unable to read the content, please could you ask them for a screenshot, and precise browser version, so we can investigate?
