Email: How to change the 'From' field?

AI-generated summary

Multimastery asks how to customize the “From” name in transactional emails (e.g., login codes and password resets) to reflect their community’s name rather than the default “Discourse.” While NateDhaliwal suggests updating the email subject setting with %{site_name}, Multimastery clarifies that this only affects the subject line, not the sender’s display name. supermathie recommends checking the notification_email and email_site_title settings, but Multimastery notes these are already configured correctly and the issue persists specifically for those system emails. NateDhaliwal concludes that because the user is on the free plan, email is preconfigured and unchangeable, potentially leaving no workaround available without upgrading or contacting support.

Hello how can I change the From field in the emails to match the name of my community (or at least include the name of my community so recipients know who it’s from)? Currently, in the From field for the login code email and the password reset email it just says from Discourse.

Why not include %{site_name} in the email subject setting?

I checked Email settings–Email subject and %{site_name} is already there, but for emails like the login code and password reset email, it not including it at all.

Look for the notification_email and email_site_title site settings.

It’s already set as my community. It’s the same issue that I described with those particular emails. I’m sure you can test this on your end. BTW I’m on the free plan.

Since you’re on the free plan, email should be preconfigured already and you cannot change it, I believe. Can you send a screenshot of what you’re seeing? Perhaps there is a workaround.
