In the discussion about a unique index style for voting, erlend_sh shared examples of minimalist designs from other feature voting apps and proposed a mockup for Discourse. Key features of the mockup include:
Vote counts on the left
Showing status and voters (ordered by staff level)
Hiding Activity and Views, only showing replies
However, codinghorror questioned the minimalism of the design, as it adds elements to each line. sam suggested that a staff response excerpt in the topic list is a crucial missing piece, citing Uservoice as an example.
erlend_sh presented an updated mockup inspired by Canny’s clean design, which would require adjusting the desktop width to accommodate the narrower layout. Meanwhile, codinghorror argued that most voting processes do not allow voting on old topics, contradicting Hugo_Roger, who suggested that old topics can still be worthy of votes if they remain relevant.
Status is doable today with staff tags, to me the biggest piece that is missing now is an excerpt of the “staff response” in topic list, but that is missing from this mockup
Der einzige Nachteil ist, dass es so wenig Platz benötigt, dass es auf unserer Standard-Breite für Desktops etwas fehl am Platz wirkt, es sei denn, wir machen es schmaler als die Standardbreite, wie in meinem Mockup.
