Users losing disproportionate amount of cheers

I had a user on my forum accuse me of taking points away from him directly!

I accused @falco of a similar thing.

I think I might be losing points? Is there any way to have fewer points from one week to the next? I checked my deleted posts to see if that would account for it, but I don’t think there are enough to match the lost points.

Obviously not a big deal, but I am a little curious to know if there’s something else I’m not factoring in.

We constantly recalculate the score to reflect deleted posts, topics, removed likes, etc.

I did think it’d be something like that, I think I was just surprised by the size of the variance and wanted to make sure I fully understood it. So, there are no hidden weighting factors for open/closed topics, or a secret ‘leaky bucket’ modifier you can attach to certain users who you find particularly annoying? That kind of thing?

Nope, there isn’t anything like that at the moment…

I do notice a dip in my points quite often, though tracking that is too complex for me to get my head round. Mine may just be deleted posts from the auto-timer topics, but I’ll add my bit anyway.

I thought (if there was something amiss) it could maybe be something to do with this:

Points are automatically updated every 5 minutes for events of the day, and we re-calculate scores from the last 10 days once a day.
