Just bumping this as a much-needed feature for really embracing chat as across a larger business.

This topic has been dormant for awhile but we are also getting requests from our community to provide a search function specifically for chat.
Please consider prioritizing this.

We are thinking about it, but have no timeline at the moment.

Soon we’ll move from Slack to Discourse.
But right now I already know that people will ask how they can search through chat because they’re used to it. (Although I understand that there is a quote option available in Discourse Chat – I can’t change that people are used to it that search is available inside chat/Slack.)
Let’s hope that the Discourse team can prioritize this. Thanks!

Quick update, we have the new hidden setting chat_search_enabled and initial implementation merged.
We plan to announce public testing in the upcoming weeks.
