As a category moderator on a Discourse forum, I occasionally post announcements regarding maintenance or outages to our service on the forum and we usually will utilise the add date/time feature of Discourse to show users when an outage started or when maintenance is scheduled to start.
This works great, however recently I was working on a maintenance post. I wanted to add when the planned maintenance was due to happen, however I did not like how Discourse displayed it.
I tried looking around and I was struggling to find a solution. I then asked a friend to help me, and they told me about the calendar="off"
variable. This meant that it now worked exactly as I intended.
However, I feel as if this should be in the Insert Date/Time menu to begin with though. I wouldn’t have been able to find it if I didn’t ask a friend. It’ll also help me remember that this is a thing in the future too.
It could be easily added to the advanced options menu as a toggle (for example, it could say “Use absolute time”).
