Links and images are, strictly speaking, allowed in poll options. But clicking the picture or link will toggle the option when it should not be expected. See yourself by clicking “Rainbow” or “Emu”.

What would be expected in case of images that can be enlarged would be to display the image viewer, and for the links, open the link or anchor without toggling the option.

Ideally, in this case, only clicking the box should toggle the option.
Clicking the link should target the anchor, and clicking the image should open the image viewer (because the original image is large enough).

But I understand that the problem here is difficult to solve, because regular poll options don’t need interactable elements, thus clicking anwhere on the content checking the option is legitimate, and it might be hard to discriminate when clicking an element should toggle or not the option, and also leading to different behaviors between polls: a poll with non-zoomable images doesn’t need the image viewer, so the image shouldn’t be interactable besides toggling the option.

So I don’t really expect this question to be answered, and this “problem” solved in the future. It’s merely a “what if” suggestion in case someone has a smart idea about how to solve this someday, or if it unexpectedly gets traction from other people.

Rainbow

Emu

In any case, feel free to enjoy the rainbow and the emu.

  1. (My anchor links don’t work anyway because I messed them up, and I’m not allowed to edit the poll, don’t pay attention) ↩︎
