I checked the journal with

# journalctl --disk-usage
Archived and active journals take up 1.5G in the file system.

and run this command to free the space
# journalctl --vacuum-time=10d

Now I have 1GB more.

If you don’t expect to have to debug any behaviour from system logs, you can be very brutal in pruning the journals.

# journalctl --rotate
# journalctl --vacuum-time=1s

although what I’ve done is change the policy:

/etc/systemd/journald.conf:
