We are planning to replace the JQuery-based autocomplete implementation in the near future. But for now, in order to unblock the removal of the raw-handlebars compilation pipeline, we’re replacing the autocomplete .hbr
templates with vanilla JS.
Here’s the core PR:
and similar ones for some third-party plugins:
- DEV: Drop dependency on raw-hbs templates by davidtaylorhq · Pull Request #127 · merefield/discourse-locations · GitHub
- DEV: Remove Handlebars dependency by davidtaylorhq · Pull Request #299 · paviliondev/discourse-custom-wizard · GitHub
Admittedly it would’ve been much better if we’d deprecated these things a few months ago. But, I’ve searched all-the-*
and haven’t found any other people who were depending on this, so we’re planning to push forward with the removal in core next week.
If anyone else runs into any problems, please feel free to post here and we’ll be happy to help.
