it’d be great if the user get informed about his topic being bumped with a message with the Bumper Robot 
, this way he can:
- update about the status of the topic (whether he found the solution himself or not),
- edit and write it in a better format, if it’s not getting answers because of bad writing,
Also this would be a good reason to increase user retention to a forum.
