The discussion revolves around the ability to filter users by group name in the /users section of a Discourse forum. richa initially requests this feature, as the current functionality only allows filtering by username. codinghorror responds that this is not currently possible, but tobiaseigen and maxschons express interest in this feature and suggest additional functionality, such as sorting group members by last post or seen columns, and advanced search capabilities.
Ahmed_Gagan offers to create a pull request (PR) for this feature and later shares a working video of the implementation. The PR is eventually added to the Discourse GitHub repository (PR #11095). markvanlan announces that the feature is now available, allowing users to filter by group.
I was just looking for this as well and am glad it has already been asked. We are starting to make more active use of groups, and need to keep an eye on a particular group right now to make sure they are starting to participate. Filtering the user list by group would be a huge help.
Is it now possible to search for users by group? I would be especially interested to have some sort of advanced search for users where I can ask: Who is in Group A and Group B. This would influence the way I would structure the groups within our community.
