The user Soma reported that their Chat Integrations plugin stopped forwarding new posts to Slack around September 2026, despite the configuration remaining unchanged and the “Test” button functioning correctly. pedro asked if any errors appeared in the logs, but Soma confirmed there were none. pedro then suggested verifying if the Slack integration was using Granular Scopes, providing detailed migration instructions from the legacy scope system. Soma was unsure about the scope status but doubted it was the cause since the test message succeeded. Ultimately, Soma identified the root cause: the specific Discourse account used by the Chat Integrations plugin to view posts had been accidentally deleted during a cleanup process.
Since roughly the start of September 2026, our posts stopped being forwarded to Slack. The configuration was not changed at that time, and if I click the “Test” button, it creates the Slack message as intended. So the connection between Discourse and Slack is fine, it just does not create the messages when a new topic is posted.
Was there an update at that time that could have broken our configuration? Or perhaps was there a change to how Chat Integrations should be used that I’m not aware of?
Hm, I’m not sure, but probably. Would that matter though? The test button within the chat integrations settings sends a message to Slack, so I don’t think this issue is coming from the Slack angle.
