La funzione di backup automatico di Discourse dispone di un’impostazione backup frequency. Tuttavia, sospetto che questa impostazione non controlli la frequenza del backup, bensì il periodo del backup (dove periodo = 1/frequenza), ovvero, se impostato su 4, la mia ipotesi è che venga creato un backup ogni 4 giorni e non 4 volte al giorno.
Questa distinzione non è chiara nell’interfaccia utente. Il suggerimento sotto l’impostazione recita: “Con quale frequenza creiamo un backup del sito, in giorni”, il che indica effettivamente che si tratta di un periodo e non di una frequenza. Inoltre, non specifica se accetta numeri interi o decimali.
Suggerirei di modificare l’etichetta dell’impostazione in backup period oppure di aggiungere una breve spiegazione chiarificatrice: un valore di 4 significa che verrà creato un backup ogni 4 giorni. Questo eliminerebbe l’ambiguità tra la “spiegazione più probabile” e il “significato letterale effettivo”.
Saying that is the same as saying “this is the frequency of the sound in seconds”; it doesn’t make sense. Frequency (of sound, but also of other things) is measured in Hertz (1/time) and not in time. Maybe I’m being a bit pedantic about this, but in my experience getting the units of measurements right helps a lot in software development and the understanding of said software by end users.
@mpalmer’s suggestion of “The period of time between backups” looks fine to me; it could be shortened to just “Days between backups”.
As a new user, it was unclear what the settings meant. I had to read the description, and then the next setting and figure out how the two work together. It wasn’t completely clear until I read your post about automated backups.
