Vor ein paar Tagen habe ich meine Discourse-Instanz auf die neueste Version aktualisiert. (Leider habe ich die genaue Version, von und auf die aktualisiert wurde, nicht notiert.) Die Installation schlug zwar fehl, aber ich konnte das Update rückgängig machen und die Discourse-App neu aufbauen, sodass die Seite wieder normal funktionierte.
Am nächsten Tag beschloss ich, das Upgrade erneut zu versuchen. Das Upgrade schlug wieder fehl und dieses Mal erhielt ich eine dieser „Oops – Fehler 500“-Seiten. Ich versuchte, die App mehrmals neu aufzubauen, erhielt jedoch durchgehend Fehler beim Neuaufbau. Einer davon, den ich mich erinnere, betraf ein Timeout von yarn im Netzwerk. Als ich in den Protokollen nach oben scrollte, stand dort mehrmals „There seems to be an issue with your network, retrying…“ (Es scheint ein Problem mit Ihrem Netzwerk zu geben, wird erneut versucht…), bis es aufgab und fortfuhr. Ein Foto davon habe ich leider nicht, aber unten habe ich ein Foto der Fehlermeldung.
Nach zahlreichen Neuaufbauten und der Suche nach den im Protokoll auftretenden Fehlern in diesem Forum, ohne zu einer wirklichen Lösung zu kommen, habe ich meine Discourse-Installation über die Rails-Befehlszeile gesichert und dafür gesorgt, dass ich auch einige frühere Sicherungen besitze. Anschließend habe ich die virtuelle Maschine, auf der Discourse lief, gelöscht. Wichtig ist auch anzumerken, dass ich Ubuntu 20.04 LTS verwendet habe.
Anschließend habe ich die virtuelle Maschine mit Ubuntu 20.04 LTS neu erstellt und die Schritte für die Neuinstallation von Discourse für eine Standardinstallation befolgt, jedoch traten die gleichen Probleme weiterhin auf. Manchmal erhielt ich auch einen Fehler in den Installationsprotokollen, der besagte, dass die Postgres SQL-Datenbank noch gestartet wurde. Ein weiterer Fehler, den ich bemerkte, war, dass beim Klonen der Plugins ein „Zugriff verweigert“-Fehler auftrat.
Ich habe sogar versucht, die virtuelle Maschine mit Ubuntu 22.04.04 LTS neu zu erstellen, um zu sehen, ob dies hilft, aber dies löste die Probleme nicht.
Bei den Plugins handelt es sich bei allen von mir verwendeten Plugins um offizielle Discourse-Plugins. Ich habe sogar versucht, alle meine Plugins zu entfernen, was jedoch nichts gebracht hat.
Dieses ganze Durcheinander war für mich wirklich frustrierend, da mein Forum seit geraumer Zeit offline ist. Wichtig ist zu erwähnen, dass ich die Installation nicht in der Cloud, sondern auf einer virtuellen Maschine auf einem dedizierten Server in meinem Zuhause betreibe. Die der virtuellen Maschine zugewiesenen Ressourcen erfüllen die Systemanforderungen von Discourse. Ein wichtiger Punkt ist jedoch, dass der Server auf einer langsamen mechanischen Festplatte läuft, wodurch Neuaufbauten etwa 20–30 Minuten dauern. Ich habe auch gelesen, dass die langsame Festplatte dazu führen könnte, dass yarn ein Timeout hat, bin mir aber nicht entirely sicher, ob dies durch das Speichergerät verursacht wird. Ich plane, die mechanische Festplatte bald durch eine SSD zu ersetzen, da die HDD anscheinend ausfällt. Anbei ein Bild, das ich von CrystalDisk gemacht habe, das den Status der Festplatte zeigt.
Bis zu diesem Vorfall gab es keine Probleme mit der Konfiguration, die ich zum Hosting meines Forums verwendet habe. Mein Netzwerk ist korrekt konfiguriert, wobei die HTTP-/HTTPS-Ports der virtuellen Maschine an das öffentliche Internet weitergeleitet werden und der virtuellen Maschine Ressourcen zugewiesen werden, die die Anforderungen für Discourse erfüllen. Außerdem verwende ich eine LTS-Version von Ubuntu. Die virtuelle Maschine läuft unter Windows Server 2019 in Windows Hyper-V.
Ich beginne zu glauben, dass es ein Problem mit meiner Hardware oder meiner Konfiguration geben könnte, weiß aber nicht, inwieweit dies zutrifft.

Falls jemand eine Idee hat, wie man dieses Problem beheben kann, lasst es mich bitte wissen. Derzeit glaube ich, dass der beste Weg darin besteht, die defekte Festplatte durch eine bessere SSD zu ersetzen, da die fehlerhafte Platte möglicherweise korrupte Daten schreibt und die Wiederherstellungen 20–30 Minuten dauern, obwohl sie eigentlich nur wenige Minuten in Anspruch nehmen sollten. Allerdings bin ich mir dieser Schlussfolgerung nicht ganz sicher.
Da ich derzeit keine neue Platte bekommen kann, werde ich wahrscheinlich vorübergehend eine Instanz auf DigitalOcean starten und die Seite von dort aus betreiben, bis ich einen Ersatz für die Platte erhalten habe.
Lasst mich bitte wissen, was ihr davon haltet, das würde ich sehr zu schätzen wissen.
