Create/See and Create Permissions (again)

1. Categories can be assigned a Create permission
2. Users with that permission can create topics in the category and reply to their own topics
3. They can still see topics created by other users, but an attempt to access them returns a “This page is private or …” error.
4. Admins can see and respond to all posts.
5. I have no idea whether other category permissions are still working, but don’t know why they wouldn’t be…

This is almost exactly how the restricted replies plugin works

The only thing is doesn’t handle is (3). That will be extremely tricky to implement, because of all the reasons listed above.

trying to modify view permissions per-topic is very difficult, and is unlikely to ever happen. That’s because it would require extensive changes across the whole application including topic lists, suggested topics, notifications, etc. If you need to modify view permissions on a per-topic basis, then use PMs.
