最近のアップデートでキャッシュ/ページネーションの動作が変更されましたか?サイトアップデート後に大きなスレッドが読み込まれなくなりました

My site recently updated to the latest discourse version from a much older version.

We had a thread that was standing at around 68,000 replies. People were continuing to load the thread and reply daily without any impact on the site or its servers.

It seems like after the update loading the large thread significantly slows down the site for all users. About half the time, the thread load fails with a timeout error. It also doesn’t seem to cache/paginate properly - if I try to load the most recent posts, navigate away, then load the recent posts again, I get the same long loading times and Discourse drops me in at the start of the thread.

I want to ask about what functionality was there before for pagination/caching of large threads and if anything has changed in the last 6 months or 1yr+ of updates.

@awesomerobot do you think this has anything to do with the recent topic list accessibility changes?

(Total guesswork on my end)

those changes haven’t been merged yet… likely related to the glimmer changes? but there are many changes that could be related if the version was over a year old

@Wintermute certainly frustrating that an update would degrade this, but a 68k reply topic is well beyond what we’d recommend on any version… maybe we can look for possible megatopic performance regressions… in the past we’ve removed some features when a topic extends beyond 10k posts to improve performance, but it’s not a scenario we give a lot of priority
