Discourse و Noip

hi, when i enter noip domain to discourse setup i get: port 443 of computer does not appear to be accessable using hostname.

when i ping that noip domain there is no response

Are you trying to host Discourse on a domestic internet connection?

Does the router/firewall have port 443 opened and forwarded to the machine where Discourse will be installed.

yes, port 443 is opened

Is there a software firewall on the host? Is the Ubuntu install a physical machine or a virtual server?

physical machine, i disabled all firewalls

Have you confirmed that the noip domain currently points to the correct IP address? If you can visit https://www.whatismyip.com from the same network as the server, you can compare that with the result when looking up the domain name at DNS Lookup - WhatIsMyIP.com®

yes i confirmed. but ping (ping (domian)) gives no output

Your ISP might be blocking ports and ICMP.

You don’t want to run the development version on a public ip. Lots of security is turned off. For example, you can log in as any user without a password.

please, someone send me instructions to set up discourse on noip hostname

Why do you need it on noip? You can use cloudflare tunnels instead which is much better.

Cloudflare tunnels is free

is there any other solution? i don’t want to give my credit card number to cloudflare.

No, there’s no other official solution. You’re on your own

Edit: Discourse is a Free & Open-Source software which you can host yourself without having to pay for any upfront purchase of license etc.

However, You still have to pay for a domain name, hosting, email etc. These costs can not be avoided.
