I wondered if discourse will in the future be available on F-Droid or on the Aurora store which both don’t require a gmail adress to download them?
I am not an app developer myself but the Aurora store looks very similar to the playstore in term of architecture and you can find plenty of playstore apps on it so I am no sure why discourse is not on it.
