Discourse Reaktionen

Since it’s now in core (thank you for that), I enabled it in my main forum. But somehow the UI is missing: I chose :+1: for the default instead of , and made my custom selection. But besides the share icon, I have a blank – which is active and working: I can use the reactions, but the default state is blank instead of showing the thumb up. So I suspected a caching issue with Firefox. But no.

In the screenshot below I highlighted where the icon should be visible.

Did anyone have this issue before?

In safe-mode, keeping only official plugins, the problem remains.

Did you pick the thumbs-up icon name or the +1 emoji? Quite a lot of people try to use an emoji name in Discourse reactions like icon instead of an icon name and that can blank out the ui button.

I’m still hoping for an icon picker in there  :crossed_fingers:

You nailed it @JammyDodger!

This should be a Font Awesome icon name, not an emoji name.

Duh, it’s written on the package. :person_facepalming: It’s confusing though having two sets of incompatible images, and a third set for the actual UI icons we can’t use unless we screenshot them for explaining other where to look.

I too feel this pain @hellekin. Configure custom emoji - #34 by pacharanero

I really want all the Discourse UI icons to be part of the emoji set of a default Discourse instance. That would save so much time explaining things.

Ok, I really didn’t want to post here but I’m at my wit’s end. I cannot for the life of me get this plugin to work. I have everything set up properly, but when I hover over the heart icon on a post, it only lets me use the heart emoji - no other options show up (the default interaction). Anyone have any idea what’s happening? Here are my settings:

What I have noticed is that while I am not able to remove heartfrom Discourse reactions enabled reactions while it is selected in Discourse reactions reaction for like you were able to configure it that way. What happens when you change Discourse reactions reaction for like to something else, save it, and switch back to heart?

And even though I assume you’ve already done this, I sometimes forget to refresh the site once so that I have the forum loaded with the newly activated settings.

Added the heart emoji, swapped out the “Discourse reactions reaction for like” emoji and reverted it back to the heart, still no dice. I’m usually refreshing the page/using incognito mode when making changes just to double-check settings like this, but no cigar. I even tried rebuilding the app with these changes in place. Still nothing.

Before this plugin was integrated into Discourse officially I would’ve attempted a reinstall. Is there a way to do that when the app’s preinstalled?

Are there any errors in the browser console or in /logs?

Does the device you use have a touch display?

There were also some similar reports earlier this year Discourse Reactions - #373 by wrapper

Tried everything that was suggested, nothing worked - but the latest Discourse update seems to have fixed the issue!

How do you switch from the plugin to Core? I removed the plugin from the configuration and now I don’t get any reactions at all.

Did you update discourse? It will be added to core when you update.

The admin panel says I am up to date with v3.4.7 +1.

I have already tried rebuilding it, but there has been no change.

You didn’t mention that you are on the stable branch before. The plugin is currently only included in tests passed. You will have to wait for the next release (v3.5) for the plugin to be included.
It’s like with new features which are also only available on tests passed until the current tests passed version is merged to stable.

Ah, OK, then I must have misunderstood the message in the terminal. I think I can wait and see what happens.

The message can be misleading

I would love the option of having fine-grained control over this. Particularly if we can enable by group. We also have one user who likes to spray negative emojis on certain topics and posters so would like a way to limit this while preserving functionality for the rest.
