When accessing Discourse on my phone, I noticed that some background colors are missing. In dark mode, the issue becomes more noticeable, as the font colors also don’t change as expected.

Hi!
Well, thats certainly annoying. What theme do you have activated?
At the moment, I cant repro yet here on meta.
I can repro this with Meta Branded / Dark
There may be more. This error may be specific to the iOS version. Others on the forums I’m on have also encountered this issue.
Hmm, i’ve tried to simulate the same environment (iOS 16, iphone 8, meta-branded, dark) and still no repro.
Can you show me a screenshot of your active colour palette theme settings?
Sorry, I’m not sure what you mean by “active colour palette theme settings.” Could you please explain where I could find it?
Ah okay that changes things. It’s clearly a z-index issue but it’s super hard to diagnose if I can’t repro
How are you accessing the forums? Using the Hub app on iOS, or directly in the browser?
Directly in the browser.
I just checked and have the same issue in Discourse Hub.
Having trouble reproing this on 16.4
Are you on the absolute latest version of iOS for your device? Can you try 16.7.11?
After the latest update using an iOS 16.7 device the UI is is borked. Checked it on meta and same result.
It seems background colour is losing drop down menu are transparent, form boxes and who know what else.
Writing this is very difficult n Mobil. Everything is visible at once all thebUI elements are on topic of each other
I will edit and fix up in desktop Safari which seem to be fine.
Has there been a pull up in terms of weblit support or something like that?
So far I’ve tried to repro but can’t. It seems very specific to v16.7
If possible, please upgrade to 16.latest – it will most likely fix it.
As outlined this is exactly the same issue - my iOS is 16.7.11 here when encountering the issue, no update required.
Coincidently not the first web related thing to break on iOS this week.
Thanks for the reports! We’ve managed to track down the cause here, and have a fix on the way:
This will also be backported to the recently-released stable version.
This is now merged to both tests-passed
and stable
, and is live on Meta
