Documentation in a Discussion forum

I realise there is a “documentation” category here where at least some of this information can be found. But to use a discussion forum as a documentation platform isn’t ideal - for reasons I hope are obvious.

I like that Documentation category and have used it often. I’m confused because I don’t see obvious reasons that it isn’t ideal.

There is lots of useful information there and submitting a contribution there would be appreciated and likely helpful to others.
