Editing the preview part of an event breaks for RSVPed users

AI-generated summary

The issue involves the preview content of an event not displaying correctly for users who have already RSVP’d, particularly after the event preview is edited. putty explains that while the system tracks RSVP status, it doesn’t consistently update the preview content for attendees. This problem is exacerbated when the event topic is edited after users have RSVP’d, causing the hidden player to fail to appear. putty confirms that editing the topic post-RSVP breaks the preview functionality, likely due to caching or status synchronization issues. As a workaround, users are advised to un-RSVP and re-RSVP to reveal the content. The issue is linked to the livestream feature and is being investigated.

Our event object remembers if the user is Going, but it doesn’t always load the pre-determined content for attendees. For context, we hide the player behind their Going status, but the platform frequently requires them to un-RSVP and re-RSVP for the content to be revealed. It seems like if they RSVP’d recently, it remembers (same day?), but I always add “if you don’t see the player, un-rsvp” in the preview body just in case.

Is there anything we can do to force the system to check their status as the page loads?

UPDATE: I’m very confident that this has to do with editing the topic after they have already RSVP’d. Which, due to some hiccups with using Teams as our event video player, I have been doing shortly before the event goes live. This unfortunately breaks the preview/hidden feature for anyone already on the page. I’m still working on some solutions, but PSA that this is very likely the cause.
