Firefox Optional AI feature not optional?

Don’t install the plugin or if it is installed do not enable

I’m sorry to inform you that I now have “Ask AI” (and that interferes in weird ways with some other features) enabled although I never enabled any AI features.

When you say “Ask AI” are you referring to the post/composer Helper features from the AI plugin or something else?

If you have the AI plugin disabled in Admin → Plugins:

You should not see the “Ask AI” buttons:

Whereas, if you have the plugin enabled:

you will see the buttons:

I don’t see the buttons… But I see an AI popup… I think it comes from the Firefox browser though.

Ah yes, I believe Firefox has recently included some AI features in their browser. Discourse has no control over those, you’ll have to disable those in the browser settings.
