Going over the character limit should be presented earlier

Discourse instances enforce a character limit, but this is only presented the user when they actually try to create a post:

It would be nice if a warning came up earlier (for example, there’s a live preview that would be a good place to put this information) so that users aren’t caught by surprise right when they try to post their comment.

I like the idea. I do have to ask, though - what was being posted with over 400 thousand characters? That’s a humongous post!

This might be a nice addition for @eviltrout’s Characters Required plugin, once you reach ~90% of the character limit it could indicate the character count vs the 32k limit.
