Having a protected (Wordpress) page that only Discourse Users can access
The discussion revolves around displaying a private Facebook group feed on a protected Wordpress page, accessible only to Discourse users who meet specific criteria, such as trust level or group membership.
Michael_SC initially inquired about using the Facebook Feed plugin with Wordpress to achieve this, but encountered issues with formatting and features when publishing the feed to Discourse. simon suggested publishing the feed to a protected Discourse category, but this solution also had limitations.
simon and Stephen proposed alternative solutions, including using Zapier to publish Facebook group posts to Discourse and embedding the Wordpress page within Discourse using an iframe. However, these solutions also had drawbacks, such as not handling old Facebook posts, comments, or edits.
Michael_SC ultimately posted a marketplace ad for two projects: (1) checking user membership in a specific Facebook group and assigning them to a corresponding Discourse group, and (2) rendering a Wordpress page with a complex Facebook feed only to Discourse members who are part of the specified group. simon deemed these projects technically feasible, but requiring customization of the WP Discourse publish_format_html template and assignment of users to Discourse groups through the Discourse API.
