Nascondere categorie o sottocategorie specifiche da "argomenti suggeriti"

Hi everyone,

I’m running a Discourse forum for photographers and I have one category named “intro” with inside a sub-category named “introduce-yourself” where people can post a new topic and say hello. Those are not shown on the “latest” in order not to spam the front page of the forum.

But they still appear in “suggested topics” under other posts. How can I hide them and prevent them from appearing into “suggested topics” site-wide?

(you might want to refresh the page a couple time, as suggested topics change at each refresh)

Try something like:

#suggested-topics .topics .topic-list-item.category-introduction-introductions.ember-view {
    display: none;
}

Awesome, it worked! Of course it’s just hiding them visually so sometimes when it suggest me only this category then the suggested topic list will look empty but that’s fine. Thanks for helping!

You can set each category to show the suggested topics in all categories or only in that category in which the topic was written. If you get the “introduction” category so that the suggested topics are also from other categories, you will hardly remain without visible suggested topics.

Of course, the change is just a visual hack, if, for some reason, the suggested topics are only in the “introduction” category you will remain without any visible topic, as you said.

Non riesco a trovare questa impostazione (o almeno non più?) oppure non funziona come previsto :thinking:

L’impostazione del sito si chiama limit suggested to category ed è disattivata per impostazione predefinita. Stai cercando di limitare gli argomenti suggeriti alla categoria corrente?

Abbiamo categorie pertinenti e tre categorie: ‘Voglio comprare’, ‘Voglio vendere’ e ‘Off-topic’, che vorrei escludere dai suggerimenti. Le discussioni pertinenti, a mio avviso, possono essere cross-promosse, mentre le categorie di seconda mano, che sono molto attive, vengono esplorate comunque e solitamente spingono altri argomenti fuori dalla lista.

L’off-topic lo voglio semplicemente nascondere, non perché voglia scoraggiare in alcun modo le discussioni off-topic, ma semplicemente per mantenere l’attenzione nel contesto originale.

È comunque una buona domanda: la categorizzazione pertinente è troppo dettagliata e, ad esempio, si dovrebbero usare i tag? Vorrei sentire alcune riflessioni e le migliori pratiche al riguardo prima di apportare grandi cambiamenti o ristrutturazioni :thinking:

Riporto alla luce questo! Nei nostri argomenti suggeriti, spesso 2 argomenti su 5 provengono dalla categoria off-topic, che vorremmo escludere. Per ora ho abilitato l’impostazione limita suggeriti alla categoria solo per vedere come reagiranno gli utenti.

Ma sarebbe fantastico avere una funzionalità per rimuovere completamente categorie specifiche dalla visualizzazione negli argomenti suggeriti.
