I want to set a category so that if I create a topic in that category, it will email that to all the people in the group that is associated with that category. I cannot find what some people claim is a “category group notifications” setting in Admin. Can’t find that for the life of me.
The whole reason for this is that when I create a group of people, associate it to a category, I would like all those people to receive email alerts that a new topic has been created in the group.
I think you want to configure the group so members watch the category for first posts by default. (Users can still change the notification status of the category in their preferences and can decide not to receive emails for watched topics, but by default it should work as you describe.)
You find the setting by selecting the group on the groups page. Then you click the “Manage” and the “Categories” tab.
