How do I stop the forum from sending certain automated emails to members? I want to cancel this email that apparently goes out with this subject line:
[XCSN Community] [PM] Congratulations on your trust level promotion!

For trust level 1 you should disable the site setting send tl1 welcome message
When users reach trust levels 2 and 3 they are awarded a badge and will receive a notification for the badge but no email is sent.

In the admin go to: settings then type send tl1 welcome message and uncheck the tick.
