I need help to configure LLM DeepSeek R1 0528 - free for Automatic translations with Discourse AI

Hi,

  1. I am not sure if “DeepSeek R1 0528 - free” is really free? I created an account and obtained API key. The URL Models & Pricing | DeepSeek API Docs provide some pricing data but DeepSeek R1 0528 is not here.
  2. I try to set up on the following page https://simpleit.blog/admin/plugins/discourse-ai/ai-llms but when I “Run test” I receive the following message -

Trying to contact the model returned this error: {“error”:{“message”:“No cookie auth credentials found”,“code”:401}}

I have the following settings

It will be nice to have a page with documentation how to set it up.

Thanks

I gave up on DeepSeek and successfully set up OpenAI but I select a post, press on … then a globe, I see a message that translation will be replaced, press OK and I see the message - Post has been sent for translation, but no translations are made. I see on OpenAI that request was served.

Isn’t the globe icon for manual translation? Perhaps you have not toggled the mode to view the localized content?

I don’t see this toggle for some reason. And there is no post date.

Thanks @NateDhaliwal for helping :folded_hands:t2:

@apoiata I am going to recommend that you take time to read Content Localization - Manual and Automatic with Discourse AI.

If you have read it through thoroughly and still have issues, let us know so we can improve the docs.

I did and still need a help

Do you see this button:

Try that, too. If no translations show up, you can look at /logs to see if there are any errors reported from the background job that does the translations.

if you are using any “free” model by openrouter, it is really free, but it’s not stable

this is my experience when using free model supported by openrouter

Yes, I see. When I press on it I see the above message.

Just provide more screenshots for troubleshooting purposes.

Is your site public? Can you share a link?

Yes, it is public. https://simpleit.blog/

Hi Natalie,

I always read manual first but the description in this article is confusing. It will be more helpful to have screenshots with proper settings and relevant information how it is working and dependencies. I am stuck now with all these settings.

It seeks to work fine for me. Depending on what I choose with the langauge selector in the header I see:
