Oh the humanity…

And people say AI isn’t beneficial

A curious comment on the same link:

Let’s talk more about this. How are you explaining this when Google gives an AI overview and folks read that (and it’s from your community) but they don’t actually click over?

So your community has solved their problem, but you don’t see the clicks, the interactions, the traffic, the engagement where the person says “hey thanks, that was exactly what I was looking for and it solved my issue.”

Unfortunately, communities will be super small on the next years. I’m seeing a lot of them actually dying.

And don’t get me wrong, I put all my efforts into keeping them alive because that’s why I use the Internet.

It’s just about accepting the facts and reality. It’s like crypto; there are folks that still don’t get the change.

It’s all about power and control. They choose the norms, we can only resist and choose what to follow (or not).

If it doesn’t fit with the topic at hand. I don’t see why a new public topic couldn’t be made. As long as everyone keeps their heads about themselves. Then there is nothing personal in debating ideas/points of view.

Well tbh I think that is more if wishful thinking or a jest.

While I am not much of fan of Reddit; these all in one social platforms encourages ppl to go there. As they don’t have to sign up on multiple sites to get content they are looking for

Sure we can talk quality or lack of in these mega platforms. But ppl like dead simple.

Montly visits on Reddit (from Google)

The Reddit search is awful, but I literally can’t find anything useful on Google without adding Reddit to the search.

Monthly Active Users

Reddit was taken down, their deleted and removed a lot of topics. It was an inflection point on the Internet history and freedom of speech.

Forced limitations on their API and blocked VPN connections to their website.

The same happened on Twitter, because their are replacing social interaction with IA.

It’s all about the money. Look about Fidelity Management and Alphabet if you want to know more.

Well, Reddit isn’t an important thing globally and there is another reasons why Xwitter is struggling. So…

x/Twitter is struggling due to Musk’s antics since taking it over.

Granted to measure market share you would need to have a statistic.that covers all discourse powered sites.

In that metric Discourse likely has a greater share than Reddit.

Twitter was, and still is, a dumpster. But it has nothing to do with Google, SEO or AI-hype.
