Insights Needed - Salesforce Community Integration or Replacement

Our company is using Salesforce and we have Salesforce Community which is not being used as a community forum platform. My question - does anyone have insights regarding using only SF to build a community v. using Discourse which would also require integrating with Salesforce Sales/CRM. I’m not sure if there’s duplication, advantages/disadvantages for one or the other, etc. I really like the Discourse platform and my preference is to use it for our community but in order to determine the best approach for our org and get folks on board, I need more info. BTW - I’m dealing with legacy platforms that are not particularly elegant/modern implementations.
