Is this the final / public 26.1 that was released yesterday?
at least in the app on iphone 26.1 the same bug still initially appears sometimes but reopening the keyboard takes care of it
Yes. It’s better for sure, but after more time spent with it, I can confidently say Discourse is still pretty broken on iOS 26.1. Just less broken than on 26.
ETA never mind, it’s only marginally less broken than before. I’m still losing the top bar on sites, and the text editor is still wonky, just ever so slightly less so. ![]()
The crash issue was on a private Discourse instance in a post with a dozen or so YouTube embeds. Apparently it was problematic with some other browsers as well. I’ll chalk it up to something unrelated.
It works fine on here on meta using iOS 26.1, but on another forum (I’d guess months out of date) it’s not working correctly. That forum was working fine before I updated to iOS 26.
I was also able to break it (less so) on a Discourse hosted instance by minimizing the editor (the double down arrow) and reopening it.
Also very much broke here as I was editing this message. See the following screenshot where it’s actually deleting the line above where the cursor is.
I came here to also say that whilst it’s mostly fixed, you can still break it by minimising the post edit screen and then maximising it again.
Happens on my site and on here.
Yes - it’s less broken, but can still be broken. Seems that anything that causes the window to recalculate size is breaking it. Like having composer open then switching to another app and coming back.
This is with latest iOS (26.1) and with Discourse on latest.
Not sure what can or should be done here? Is there something we can do?
If there is anything it would be really good to know. We have 2,000 users a month who are using iOS26 but many of them aren’t converting to making a post - I am guessing this is (part of) the reason why.
It’s definitely still possible to post even if the experience is not ideal. Maybe you’d like to reach out to some of your members to ask them why they are not posting, rather than guessing?
Many members of a community also lurk for a long time before they start posting, and some never will post, and that has nothing to do with the platform.
iOS 26.1 is now released and has solved the most critical bugs we’ve been discussing here. I’m going to close this topic to avoid it becoming a kitchen-sink topic of mobile bugs, which can be hard to triage! If you run into issues under 26.1 please start new Support topics.
