I work with a Wordpress site connected with Memberful and a Discourse forum. It seems a member can reply to other members’ comments in the forum but are unable to create their own posts. Would you have any insight on this and what the issue can be/what to look at in order to solve this?

make sure in the category security settings allow “everyone” or whatever group the members are in have the create permission.
also might want to check that the min trust level to create topic is set appropriately.

many thanks - I had a look at the settings and all seems to be set correctly. Would you be able to share any other insight on why a particular member might have troubles creating posts?

Hey there Dominika, this one seems to be an issue with posting in Discourse, rather than the Wordpress plugin itself.
I suspect your issue is one of user trust levels though, as Emilio previously suggested. Please have a quick read of this explaination
