The standard questions are how did you install? Do you have any plugins? Have your tried safe mode? Has it ever worked? Has something changed since then?

Yes we have several plugins.
Yes it’s broken on safe-mode as well. Same error.
It has always worked, nothing has changed.

What are the plugins? Are any non-official? Have you tried removing them? Not all plugins can be completely disabled with safe-mode. Have you upgraded recently?

This was caused by a bug that has just been fixed. The issue was happening if the full name required site setting was enabled and the enable names setting was disabled. If self-hosted sites are running into this problem, they should either update to the latest Discourse code, or disable the full name required site setting.
The fix for the issue should now have been deployed to all of our hosted sites. If sites on our hosting are still running into the issue, get in touch with our support team and we’ll fix it for you.
