I would like to know if it’s possible to only send one email per day about notifications such as replies. Now users get an email (when away) for every reply. That’s considered annoying by some users, I get that as well. Emails are not the best notifications since they cram up your inbox.

Of course people can install the forum as a PWA, but if you don’t open the notification in time, you’ll get an email anyway.

So, having an option of just getting one daily summary email of notifications, would greatly improve that. I don’t think this is possible now, or is it?

You can have a fiddle with your own email settings in https://meta.discourse.org/my/preferences/emails if that’s any good?

And you can set the user defaults in the User Preferences section of the admin settings too.

True. But “only away” has a timeout of just 10 minutes. For most notifications that means you’ll get an email anyway. Since 10 minutes is a too short timeout. Getting just one mail with your daily or weekly notifications would be better in my opinion.

그렇게 괜찮다면 이 주제를 #contribute:feature로 옮겼습니다. 여기서 논의 중인 이 기능이 구현되어 있지 않은 것 같아서요.

Then.. change that 10 minutes to a higher number in your site settings? What is stopping you from doing this? See email_time_window_mins. Set it to 600 or whatever you like.

I haven’t tried that (yet) because the most user friendly option would be a GUI one. But I’ll have a look and see how well that works. It would still not be a daily digest of notifications, right?

I am an end-user of Discourse’s forums (not from @AquaL1te 's community though) and have been wondering the same thing, as i don’t always keep my apps open and usually browse forums once a day, twice a day at max.
A single email regrouping all of today’s notifications would be a perfect fit for me. And i’m sure, for many more users, who hope to find in forums a slower-paced, better argued conversation than with instantaneous chat apps.

The solution you give here would require admins tw manually edit this setting for the whole of their users. Please give this power to users, let them decide how they want to interact with the forum they created an account for.

As a side-note, i also had a hard-time with the keywords “summary” and “digest” which seem to overlap in some people’s vocabulary, but differ in the way Discourse intnoduced them as features…
Some clarification may be needed here.

Different words or expressions are used in Discourse’s interface for this feature (and so users use all of these on meta)… It’s a bit confusing but we’re working on this to have it named “activity summary” everywhere.

Daily digest mode was invented oh, probably around 1974.
How could it be missing from Discourse?
