Page Views vs. Top Views

We are a small community. When I look at the number of page views for say a month of logged in users, it says that there were about 1300. But when I click on “Top” on our main page, there are only a couple of topics and they say that they have 170 views total. So I am confused, since these are logged in users, it shouldn’t be crawlers or anonymous users, but why is there such a difference between the two numbers?

Are you saying that there are only 2 topics in your community?

Page views are not just viewing a topic

What are pageviews in Discourse?

Pageviews in Discourse are counted as all requests for content by humans. This includes:

• Requests for lists of categories, topics, or posts
• The first load of a page
• Transitions between routes (e.g., moving from topics to the latest list)

A visit to a topic. Duplicate visits from the same user are counted after a 8 hour interval. A user is either a logged in user or an IP address for anonymous visitors. The 8 hour interval can be changed with the site setting topic view duration hours.
