I’m gonna make a new community soon, and I wanna say that this is no doubt, one of the best forums I have ever seen! Sure, it is expensive for Discourse hosting, but the best thing is, you can self-host with cheap VPS hosting sites! I wanna say Discourse, you are amazing, the layout seems amazing and I would like to create my forum asap. Rock on Discourse!

Yes, the big machines can get very expensive to rent, but thankfully not needed for small communities. If you grow very significantly (10’s of thousands of users or more), you may need to find ways of monetising or get support from the community to help pay the costs.
Yeah, I see, I don’t want to display ads on my forum, but rather do what Wikipedia does, ask for donations to keep the forums running.
