The discussion revolves around users not receiving weekly email summaries in a Discourse forum, despite the admin having set the default settings to send weekly digests. vin100 confirms that both the site-wide and individual user settings are correctly configured for weekly summaries, yet some users, including one who hasn’t changed their personal settings, are not receiving them. Canapin suggests checking if users have opted out individually or if there are issues with email delivery, such as spam folders or server logs. vin100 reports that emails are being sent to other users and that the problematic user did receive one email 23 days ago, but not subsequent digests. ToddZ points to a known bug fixed in a May 2024 update that could affect digest delivery, especially if the instance is self-hosted. vin100 confirms the instance is updated regularly and hosted on Digital Ocean with DreamHost SMTP, and notes that the issue seems to be resolving itself as of the morning of the post.
This user didn’t change her personal settings and she don’t recieve the summary
Last mail recieved : 23 days
Last visite the forum: 12 days
And there are new topics
Are the summaries correctly sent to other users? /admin/email/sent
Did the user check the spam folder? Do they receive other emails like notifications?
Is there anything suspicious in /logs, just in case?
As I see, here admin/email/sent users get the messages. I can’t check all but there are many
Discourse send only 1 mail 23 days ago to this user and she recieve (and open) it. It was not in the spams
Nothing special in the logs
Thank you for your concern @ToddZ
My instance is on Digital Ocean and the mails are sent via DreamHost SMTP (where I’ve the domain, DNS..). Someone tell me it’s not a good solution, others says it’s OK with a little private community (less than 500) and not many interactions
Discourse is regularely update (at least every week).
From this morning the things seems better (why?). I’m monitoring and I’ve the feeling that things are getting back to normal.
