Sorting by category mixes sub-categories with the same name

  1. Have two (sub)categories with the same name, and some posts in each.
  2. Sort the / page by category.

Expected result: Posts from one category follow posts from the other.

Actual result: Posts from the two categories will alternate.

Question: does anyone think that sorting by category is a sane operation that makes any sense?

I’m not one to judge sanity. But I’m thinking having Latest do a Categories sort is not needed. (in fact, I don’t even know why that option is available there in the first place anyway) as by going to the Category’s page the topics are sorted by latest

I am also thinking it might be wise to not have more than one category - subcategory with the same name.(even if only to improve Search results)
