Thank you for the Discourse ActivityPub plugin 🌻

Yes, this will be federated from SocialHub Discourse category - mentioned in the article - straight into Meta forum. Thanks in large part due to the efforts of @angus. Thank you, Angus!

At Discourse, we share the Fediverse’s focus on openness, decentralization and user data ownership. That is why we have invested in establishing interoperability via ActivityPub, we see it as a natural extension of our values and an important step towards a more connected, open web. [..]

Whether you're sharing announcements, hosting technical discussions, or collaborating across communities, federation makes it easier to extend your reach and engage with users where they already are.

At SocialHub, the developer community hub that is focused on furthering the open standards and ecosystem upon which the fediverse is based, for a long time we had the issue that we promoted and developed decentralized technologies, yet people had to sign up to a wholly separate forum. This was a barrier to participation, and we were called out for this. To be part of the fediverse itself. With the Discourse ActivityPub plugin, the wait is over. As early tester we joined the fedi.

Our forum categories, such as this one about Discourse AP plugin or the Fediverse Enhancement Proposals (FEP) discussions, will be federated to all the microblogging clients, but also to other forum software like NodeBB that have implemented ActivityPub support.

For those who want to be involved in bringing more forum features to the Fediverse, the W3C SocialCG has a taskforce you should be participating in: ActivityPub based Forums and Threaded Discussions Task Force .
