I was wondering if it’s possible to edit a message that is a reply to a specific user and transform it to a regular reply.

There is currently no facility in the UI to do this after the post has been created, but it could probably be added.

Delete it and reply again is the only way at the moment.

You can change it at will when composing the reply, but once submitted, it is set.
