Yep this bug has been around since the dawn of Discourse. I can confirm the avatar is missing as of right now, I believe there can be delays in the updates? @eviltrout can clarify.

Yes it’s one of those bugs that drives me crazy because I have no idea how it can happen, and I can’t ever reproduce it.
It also seems to fix itself. For example that topic is now displaying the three avatars.
Maybe it is a delay – but we don’t see it always. Maybe it’s related to the queue size?

I was thinking it might have something to do with the “too short” filtering.
i,e. “PR Submitted”, not counting the oneboxed github, is only 12 characters.
It feels like topic list might be using raw then later on using cooked (or some other criteria)
Unfortunately, as you said, it doesn’t happen that often and I can’t reproduce it…
