I’ve searched around meta and as of yet (I’m still searching) I haven’t found an answer or solution for this - Is there a process or plugin for sending a user a nudge or prompt if they haven’t read a PM in X amount of time?
For context, we send a PM when a new user joins which contains various pieces of information, I’ve found that more often than not these stay unread
I would love to give new users a gentle reminder about the PM after a period of time but I’m not sure it that’s even possible?
I can imagine, say, having the pm saying to join a group. Then a theme component could force them somewhere (maybe a public topic) with the info that you need them to respond to.
I can think of some other ways to do it, like maybe a user custom field
I’ve repurposed the initial popout notification that a newly signed user would see and amended the copy to include “Check you PMs for more info…etc” but through running a query with the data explorer, I can see that many of these are still left unopened.
Potentially, it could be just down to changing the notification copy to make those instructions much more explicit but I would love to have some kind of follow up nudge to say check your inbox
